About 1930 Theatre Company
1930 Theatre Company is a newly formed collective of artists developing bold, musical, and absurdly honest theatre.
Our first project, The Show That Never Starts, explores the fragile line between performance and life — that moment when the show should begin, but somehow never does.
We are interested in stories that live between laughter and despair, irony and sincerity.
Our work combines live music, physical theatre, and a sense of playful self-awareness, inviting the audience to see themselves as part of the performance.
Founded in 2025, 1930 Theatre Company takes its name from the moment a curtain usually rises — a reminder that beginnings are often the most uncertain and thrilling part of any story.
Current Project:
“The Show That Never Starts”
A meta-theatrical dramedy about a group of performers trapped in an endless rehearsal, searching for purpose and a way out.
As their show refuses to begin, reality slowly dissolves into performance — and performance becomes the only way to stay alive.
About the Playwright
Raya Mironova is a playwright, screenwriter, and actor originally from Siberia, now based in Tunbridge Wells, UK.
She trained in contemporary acting and directing techniques under theatre director Yuri Muravitsky and performed at Moscow’s Teatr.doc, known for its documentary and political productions.
Before turning to theatre writing, she co-wrote several film scripts and worked as both writer and performer. Her screen experience shaped her sensitivity to rhythm, visual storytelling, and subtext – qualities she now brings to the stage.
After relocating to the UK on a Global Talent visa, The Show That Never Starts became her debut play – a musical tragicomedy exploring waiting, absurdity, and human persistence.
She is now developing new work that blends humour, myth, and the tension between action and inaction.
